Senior Health & Safety Advisor

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and passionate Health & Safety Advisor to join our business. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in continuing to shape and supporting a positive health & safety culture across the business.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring our operations remain compliant, safe, and aligned with industry best practice. You will work closely with operational teams, management, and external stakeholders to continuously improve our health & safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support on all health & safety matters across the organisation
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, reviewing and updating policies and procedures as required
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to monitor standards and drive improvements
  • Lead or support accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Develop and review risk assessments, safe systems of work, and Construction Phase Plans
  • Maintain accurate records of health & safety activities, training, and compliance
  • Deliver health & safety inductions and contribute to ongoing training programmes
  • Support and maintain accreditations (e.g. CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001)
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal teams, contractors, and external bodies such as the HSE
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident, approachable, and able to influence at all levels.

Essential:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a health & safety role
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing H&S improvements
  • Strong knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice
  • NEBOSH qualification (Certificate minimum; Diploma desirable) or equivalent
  • Membership of IOSH (ideally working toward Chartered status)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience with ISO 45001 auditing
  • Fire safety, COSHH, DSE or manual handling assessor training
  • Experience working in construction, gas, or technical environments
